Two Victims Revealed in the Providence Campus Shooting as Authorities Persist in Hunt for Killer.

Both young individuals who lost their lives in the recent tragic incident at Brown University had tributes paid to them on Monday – while an intensive search for their shooter carried on following the freeing by Rhode Island officials of the sole person detained in connection in the case.

Honoring a Lost Student

The young woman Ella Cook, a second-year student from Alabama, was described as “an amazing, stable, pious, radiant soul”, according to the Advent Cathedral in Birmingham, which offered condolences for her at a ceremony on Sunday.

Cook was vice-president of Brown’s branch of the College Republicans organization, the group said. Karoline Leavitt also posted words of sorrow publicly, stating: “Words cannot express. Keeping in mind her kin and peers, especially her parents.”

The Second Victim

The other deceased individual was MukhammadAziz Umurzokov, an Uzbek national in his initial year at the renowned school, his family confirmed.

His name was confirmed by the Uzbek Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

“He possessed remarkable kindness, humor, and intelligence. He had big dreams of entering the field of neurosurgery and assisting patients,” his sibling Samira said in a online post.

What Happened

Nine more persons were injured in the weekend shooting in the school of engineering of Brown’s grounds in Providence, during the university's examination week.

Officials stated late Sunday that a man aged 24 taken into custody in a raid at a Hampton Inn about approximately 17 miles from the university earlier in the day was set to be freed.

“There is a killer at large,” declared the state's top prosecutor, Peter Neronha.

He continued, “Occasionally a probe goes down a path, and then you need to change course and head another way, and that’s exactly what has happened over the last day or so.”

Ongoing Concerns

The city's mayor, Brett Smiley, acknowledged: “This will probably generate new worry for our city”.

The gunman discharged a weapon inside a classroom in the building on Saturday afternoon, firing more than 40 rounds from a 9mm handgun, a police source reported to the media outlet.
